The 33rd EnergaCamerimage Film Festival has announced the lineup for its prestigious Golden Frog competition, celebrating excellence in cinematography. This year’s festival will run from November 15th to 22nd in Toruń, Poland. Among the high-profile contenders are Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners“ starring Michael B. Jordan, Joseph Kosinski’s “F1: The Movie“ starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, and last year’s “A Complete Unknown“ directed by Oscar nominee James Mangold featuring Oscar nominees Timothée Chalamet and Monica Barbaro. The competition will also feature new releases such as Chloé Zhao’s “Hamnet“ with Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, Kathryn Bigelow’s “A House of Dynamite,“ and James Vanderbilt’s “Nuremberg“ starring Rami Malek and Russell Crowe.
In recent years, the Golden Frog winner has been seen as a precursor for the Best Cinematography Oscar with recent winners including Academy Award nominees “Ida” (Łukasz Żal), “Carol” (Edward Lachman), “Lion” (Greig Fraser), “Joker” (Lawrence Sher), “Nomadland” (Joshua James Richards), and “Tár” (Florian Hoffmeister). More than just a competition, EnergaCamerimage serves as a global hub for visual storytellers, fostering collaboration between emerging talents and established artists. The weeklong event features masterclasses, panel discussions, retrospectives, exhibitions, and special screenings, offering a comprehensive celebration of the art and craft of cinematography.
