The Gotham Film & Media Institute has announced that Ryan Coogler’s acclaimed Warner Bros. original horror film “Sinners” will be honored with the Ensemble Tribute at the 35th annual Gotham Film Awards, set to take place at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Monday, December 1st, 2025.
This recognition celebrates the film’s entire ensemble, led by Michael B. Jordan in dual roles, and featuring Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, Buddy Guy, Li Jun Li, Delroy Lindo, and others. “Sinners” will be spotlighted alongside Guillermo Del Toro’s Netflix adaptation of “Frankenstein,” which was previously announced to receive The Gotham Vanguard Tribute at this year’s ceremony.
“Led by Michael B. Jordan’s magnificent dual roles, the remarkable ensemble cast of Sinners gives bracing, inspired performances that create one of the great cinematic experiences of the year,” said The Gotham Film & Media Institute’s Executive Director, Jeffrey Sharp. “Each talented member of this group brings a rich intensity and authenticity throughout the film’s unique twists and turns. We’re thrilled that the brilliant Ryan Coogler will present the Ensemble Tribute to Michael and the extraordinary cast at this year’s Gotham Film Awards.”
Shot in both Ultra Panavision 70 and IMAX 70mm, “Sinners” debuted to widespread acclaim on April 18th and has since grossed over $366 million worldwide, making it one of 2025’s most successful releases. It now ranks among the highest-grossing original horror films of all time and marks the first original live-action Hollywood feature to surpass $200 million domestically since Alfonso Cuarón’s “Gravity” in 2013. The film is widely predicted to do well at the 98th Academy Awards amongst industry pundits and professionals.
Established in 2005, the Gotham Awards Ensemble Tribute honors casts whose collective artistry and on-screen chemistry captivate audiences. Previous recipients include “The Hurt Locker,” “Winter’s Bone,” “Moonlight,” “The Favourite,” “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” “Fire Island,” and most recently “The Piano Lesson.”
The nominees will be announced on October 28th, 2025. The winners of the 35th Annual Gotham Film Awards will be honored at the awards ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street on Monday, December 1st, 2025.
