Trailer – “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”

Sony Pictures, along with Marvel Studios has released the trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando & Mark Ruffalo. The film will be released in theaters on July 31st.

Plot Synopsis: After the record-breaking global success of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of “No Way Home,” and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.

What do you all think of the trailer? I have to say, after the excitement of yesterday’s “Dune: Part Three” trailer, I’m a bit underwhelmed by this today. And this is coming from someone who liked the previous three Tom Holland “Spider-Man” movies. I do like that we’re dealing with the aftermath of “No Way Home,” where no one remembers who Peter Parker is. That loneliness and isolation should bring a different vibe and perspective to this upcoming film, but it can’t last forever, right? I’m excited to see Michael Mando (who was amazing in “Better Call Saul”), I’m sure Jon Bernthal will be a lot of fun opposite Holland, and who doesn’t want to see more Tramell Tillman on screen? That said, I’m really tired of the look of these movies and their risk-averse storytelling, where consequences don’t really matter, and the only way characters stay dead is if the actors don’t want to get paid again. With that said, I thought Destin Daniel Cretton did an excellent job with “Shang-Chi,” so I’m sure he’ll knock the action out of the park. What do you all think of the trailer?
