Amazon MGM Studios has released the trailer for Nia DaCosta’s “Hedda,” starring Tessa Thompson, Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock and Nina Hoss. The film will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and then be released in select US cinemas on October 22nd before being available to stream on Prime Video on October 29th.
Plot Synopsis:From writer/director Nia DaCosta comes a provocative, modern reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play. HEDDA (Tessa Thompson) finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life. Over the course of one charged night, long-repressed desires and hidden tensions erupt—pulling her and everyone around her into a spiral of manipulation, passion, and betrayal.
What do you all think of the trailer? I love the modern, defiant, and sexy tone Nia Costa has given this adaptation of the classic play. Tessa Thompson looks fantastic here in the titular role, and overall, I’m digging the film’s golden visual aesthetic. I love the opulence and scandalous tone this is striking, which will hopefully lead to it being highly entertaining. Plus, DaCosta is reuniting with Thompson after their phenomenal collaboration on “Little Woods” and not having the confines of the MCU limiting their creativity as it did with “The Marvels.” I’m most excited for Thompson to land another showcase role, as she’s one of the most underrated actresses working today.
