It was announced earlier this morning that British director, screenwriter, and cinematographer Molly Manning Walker (“How To Have Sex“) will be the President of the Un Certain Regard Jury of the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival. She will be joined by French-Swiss director and screenwriter Louise Courvoisier (“Holy Cow“), Croatian director of the International Film Festival Rotterdam Vanja Kaludjercic (“Stranded In Canton”), Italian director, producer and screenwriter Roberto Minervini (“The Damned“) and Argentinian actor Nahuel Pérez Biscayart (“Kill The Jockey” & “BPM: Beats Per Minute“). They will be in charge of awarding prizes for the Un Certain Regard section, which showcases art and discovery films by young auteurs.
This year, 20 films have been selected, including 9 first films. The 2024 Un Certain Regard Prize went to Guan Hu’s feature “Black Dog.” Check out the full list of titles here.
“Promised Sky” by Tunisian director Erige Sehiri will open the Un Certain Regard section on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025.
The 2025 Cannes Film Festival will run from May 13th until May 24th. The full lineup can be seen here. Dan Bayer and I will be attending in-person this year from Next Best Picture.
