Columbia Pictures has released the trailer for Jon Watts’s first non-“Spider-Man” film since “Cop Car” in 2015, with “Wolfs” starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams & Poorna Jagannathan. The film will be released in theaters on September 20th.
Plot Synopsis: Two professional fixers find themselves hired for the same job.
What do you all think of the trailer? It feels good to see Clooney and Pitt share the screen together again, knowing they’re buddies in real life and how much they entertained us with the “Ocean’s Trilogy.” However, this trailer did very little to excite other than coast by on their name recognition and amusing banter. The premise might sound like a fun one; two fixers get called to do the same job and have to work together when they prefer to work alone, but this trailer’s overall pacing, tone, and style felt off to me throughout. In any event, I’m sure it’ll be a fun time at the movies. It’s refreshing to see Watts finally directing something other than one of the MCU “Spider-Man” films, even though this looks devoid of any directorial personality. However, what remains to be seen is how audiences respond to a film that looks like it should be going straight to streaming rather than theaters. Do Clooney and Pitt still have the drawing power necessary to get young and older audiences to the cinema? We’ll find out this fall. What do you all think, though?
