Disney has released the trailer for “The Mandalorian And Grogu,” starring Pedro Pasca, Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White & Jonny Coyne. The latest “Star Wars” theatrical film will be released in theaters on May 22nd, 2026.
Plot Synopsis: Once a lone bounty hunter, Mandalorian Din Djarin and his apprentice Grogu embark on an exciting new Star Wars adventure.
What do you all think of the trailer? This does not appear to be the way. On top of all the backlash Disney is currently facing from the Jimmy Kimmel situation, do we really need the next “Star Wars” movie to be some elevated TV series adaptation? Sure, I understand “The Mandalorian” is popular and beloved compared to some of the other Disney+ “Star Wars” shows, second to only “Andor,” which stands up there with some of the best storytelling the franchise has ever produced. However, the time to do this was a few years ago, and it now seems to be arriving too late. The CGI doesn’t look all that spectacular, and nothing about this trailer made me feel like I need to rush to the theater to see this when I know I can wait a little longer to inevitably stream it on Disney+, which is where it looks like it belongs. Jon Favreau is directing and writing (co-written alongside Dave Filoni), but once when that would mean something to me, has only diminished over time. Hopefully, a second trailer reveals more about the story, which may hook me, but until then, this looks like glorified fan service. What do you think, though?
