20th Century Studios has released the trailer for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora. The film will be released in theaters on May 1st.
Plot Synopsis: Miranda Priestly struggles against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amid declining print media, while Miranda nears retirement.
What do you all think of the trailer? We don’t have much to go on here, since this trailer feels more like a teaser. We don’t even know if Miranda is deliberately choosing to forget Andy and Emily or if she’s suffering from some form of memory loss. Whatever the case may be, I love that original director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna are back on board for some continuity, along with the original four cast members (plus Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also reprise their roles as “Lily” and “Irv” from the first film). This is going to be a big event release, as the original film has amassed quite a following over the years since its 2006 release (which also saw Meryl Streep receive another Oscar nomination — so you might as well get those predictions going, too).
