Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for the latest entry in the “Scream” franchise, “Scream 7,” directed and co-written by franchise creator Kevin Williamson starring Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Isabel May, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mckenna Grace, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, Tim Simons and Mark Consuelos. The film will be released in theaters on February 27th, 2026.
Plot Synopsis: When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.
What do you all think of the trailer? Honestly, as someone who has loved every single “Scream” film, with the original standing as one of my all-time favorite horror movies, I just can’t get behind this. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett were already milking the franchise for all it was worth with “Scream” (2022) and “Scream VI,” even if those entries still worked. But after the way the studio handled Melissa Barrera’s exit —and good on Jenna Ortega for standing by her —I can’t, in good conscience, support this new entry in a franchise that should’ve ended a long time ago, and now we won’t see it reach its proper conclusion for the Carpenter sisters. The trailer did little to change my mind. Kevin Williamson, as much as I respect him as the series’ creator, doesn’t inspire much confidence as a director. We already got our adrenaline rush seeing the legacy characters return in 2022, and the familiar tropes have long since lost their bite. When even the main characters are rolling their eyes at Ghostface, why should I feel any different? At this point, it’s time to let this franchise die. What do you think, though?
