Warner Bros. Pictures has released the trailer for the epic conclusion to Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” trilogy, “Dune: Part Three” starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, Isaach De Bankolé, and Javier Bardem. The film will be released in theaters on December 18th.
Plot Synopsis: Directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Villeneuve and Brian K. Vaughan, Dune: Part Three is based on the novel Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert and delivers the epic conclusion to Villeneuve’s trilogy.
What do you all think of the trailer? It goes without saying, this is easily my no. 1 most anticipated film of 2026. I have been a massive fan of both Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” films, as he’s brought Frank Herbert’s characters and story to the big screen in a way I never thought possible. For them to be received so well worldwide has been an absolute joy for me in the 2020’s, in a post-“Lord of the Rings,” “Game of Thrones” world where I’m craving that level of immersion in cinematic storytelling. “Dune: Part Three” marks the end of Villeneuve’s trilogy and Paul Atreides’ story, as he’s now been Emperor for 17 years since the events of “Dune: Part Two,” which means there will be a lot of changes in this final installment. As we can see from the trailer, it’s still very much “Dune,” but with new DP Linus Sandgren on camera and a majority of the film shot with IMAX cameras, and the results, combined with the awe-inspiring costumes and production design, are stunning. On film stock, there will be a different feeling and tone for this more personal, contained, political, yet still epic film. I’m very intrigued to see how Robert Pattinson brings the scheming Scytale to life, how Anya Taylor-Joy leans into the radicalism of Alia Atreides, and how Villeneuve explains the return of Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho (I already know how, but I’m curious how this will be translated). “Dune: Messiah” is a very complex, dark, and intimidating novel to adapt, with a lot of exposition to convey, new characters to introduce, and a lot of story to wrap up (the final runtime will surely have to be over three hours long, I imagine), but it holds tremendous promise. If Villeneuve succeeds, he will effectively complete the story of Paul Atreides on a scale and scope we haven’t seen since the “The Godfather” trilogy with Michael Corleone. Are you ready? I know I am. And I can assure you, I will be loud this awards season, banging the drum for Villenueve to get a well-deserved (and overdue) Best Director Oscar nomination if he somehow manages to pull this off. In Villeneuve I trust….that’s my Lisan al-Gaib! What do you all think of the trailer? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below or on our X account.
