The Venice Film Festival has announced the official juries for its 82nd edition, which will take place from August 27th to September 6th.
In the main competition, jury president Alexander Payne (“The Holdovers“), whose role was previously confirmed, will be joined by French director and screenwriter Stéphane Brizé (“Out Of Season”); Italian director and writer Maura Delpero (“Vermiglio“); Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu (“R.M.N.“); Iranian director and writer Mohammad Rasoulof (“The Seed Of The Sacred Fig“); Brazilian actress and screenwriter Fernanda Torres (“I’m Still Here“); and Chinese actress Zhao Tao (“Caught By The Tides“). This jury will decide the festival’s top honors, including the Golden Lion for Best Film, the Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize, the Silver Lion for Best Director, the Coppa Volpi for Best Actress, the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor, the Best Screenplay Award, the Special Jury Prize, and the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor or Actress.
The Horizons (Orizzonti) jury will be led by French director and screenwriter Julia Ducournau (“Alpha“). She will be joined by Italian director and video artist Yuri Ancarani (“Il Popolo delle Donne”), Argentine film critic Fernando Enrique Juan Lima, Australian director Shannon Murphy (“Babyteeth“), and American artist and filmmaker RaMell Ross (“Nickel Boys“). This jury will present the Orizzonti Awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Short Film, and the Special Orizzonti Jury Prize.
Meanwhile, the jury for the Luigi De Laurentiis Venice Award for Best Debut Feature will be chaired by UK filmmaker Charlotte Wells (“Aftersun“), with French-Tunisian director and producer Erige Sehiri (“Promised Sky“) and Italian director and screenwriter Silvio Soldini (“The Tasters”) rounding out the panel.
