The plot for “Wonderstruck” is as follows:
Ben and Rose are children from two different eras who secretly wish that their lives were different. Ben longs for the father he’s never known, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. When Ben discovers a puzzling clue and Rose reads an enticing headline, they both set out on epic quests to find what they’re missing.
This looks gorgeous in every way possible. Ed Lachman’s cinematography certainly looks to be a huge contender for the Oscar. Todd Haynes looks to have a visual masterpiece on his hands here. Some of the response coming out of Cannes was muted while others truly praised it through the roof. As the film plays throughout the festival circuit, we should hopefully learn more about its Oscar prospects.
“Wonderstruck” will release in theaters on October 20th 2017.
