Luca Guadagnino’s “Challengers” Will Open The 2023 Venice Film Festival

A few days after the buzzy trailer landed online, it’s been officially announced that Luca Guadagnino’s “Challengers” will open this year’s Venice Film Festival. The star-studded tennis love-triangle film stars Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor will make its premiere at Lido’s Palazzo del Cinema on August 30th out of competition.

The film marks Guadagnino’s first U.S. studio movie following “Call Me By Your Name,” “Suspiria,” and “Bones And All.” It will be distributed in the U.S. by Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures/Amazon Studios and internationally through Warner Bros Pictures.

Other films predicted to make their world premieres at this year’s festival include Michael Mann’s “Ferrari,” Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro,” Yorgos Lanthimos’s “Poor Things,” Sofia Coppolla’s “Priscilla” and more. This year’s Venice Film Festival will run from August 30th until September 9th.
