Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for Edgar Wright’s “The Running Man,” starring Glen Powell, Katy O’Brian, Daniel Ezra, Karl Glusman, Josh Brolin, Lee Pace, Jayme Lawson, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, David Zayas, Sean Hayes & Colman Domingo. The film will be released in theaters on November 7th.
Plot Synopsis: A game show called “The Running Man” has people chased by murderous Hunters across the world to win money.
What do you all think of the trailer? This looks like such a blast, but what else would you expect from an Edgar Wright film? The man has delivered energized productions that blend action with humor in a way that has made him a household name over the years, with a devoted following. “The Running Man” is his first remake, although the filmmakers have been careful to say it’s not necessarily a remake of the classic 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but rather a new adaptation based on the 1982 novel of the same name by Stephen King. I’m absolutely living for this era of superstar Glen Powell, and he appears to be bringing all of his movie-star charm to the screen here in a wild, bonkers action comedy with fun set pieces and the kinetic energy Wright’s films are known for. Domingo and Brolin appear to be having a ball, and I’m eager to see how Katy O’Brian and Michael Cera are utilized, two actors who have really hit their stride as of late. While it’s likely to go straight to theaters and skip fall film festivals altogether, there’s still a chance this one will premiere at TIFF, right? What do you all think, though?
