Focus Features has released the trailer for Craig Brewer’s “Song Sung Blue,” starring Hugh Jackman, Kate Hudson, Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, & Ella Anderson. The film will be released in theaters on December 25th, 2025.
Plot Synopsis: The film follows the true story of Milwaukee couple Mike (Hugh Jackman) and Claire Sardina (Kate Hudson), down-on-their-luck musicians who became local icons by performing as the Neil Diamond tribute band, “Lightning & Thunder.”
What do you all think of the trailer? This looks like it could do very well this Christmas. Neil Diamond is still enormously popular, and “Song Sung Blue” will be chock-full of new renditions of his tunes. The trailer seems to tease that it’s more than just a light-hearted musical, though, with family drama in the mix, and a story about unfulfilled dreams. Craig Brewer’s movies haven’t exactly been box office hits, but he’s already tackled a few music-centric films, like “Hustle & Flow,” to solid success. “Dolemite is My Name” also managed a really tricky tone, balancing somewhat goofy characters on the surface, but finding deep heart underneath. Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson seem like perfect choices to walk that same line. Judging from the music alone, they seem to be having a lot of fun with this Neil Diamond tribute band. This Christmas, “Avatar: Fire & Ash” will be dominating the box office, with “Marty Supreme” tackling the awards crowd, but “Song Sung Blue” could be the more heartwarming choice for families hitting theaters Christmas Day.
