The plot for “Rebecca” is as follows:
A newly married young woman finds herself battling the shadow of her husband’s dead first wife, the mysterious Rebecca.
“Rebecca” will be released by Netflix on October 21st.
So what do you think? The film has big shoes to fill, with the previous adaption from 1940 by Alfred Hitchcock being a beloved Best Picture winner. This film appears to be marketing towards fans of recent literary adaptions like “The Great Gatsby” and “Murder on the Orient Express” with its impressive visual style and aesthetics. The trailer’s questionable song choice and the potential miscasting of Armie Hammer could leave little to be desired, but Lily James’ wide-eyed horror and Kristin Scott Thomas’ chilling presence feel perfect for the material, not to mention the exquisite period costumes and sets.
