Focus Features has released the trailer for Anthony Maras’ “Pressure” starring Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, Kerry Condon, Chris Messina, and Damian Lewis. The film will be released in theaters on May 29th.
Plot Synopsis: In the tense 72 hours before D-Day, and with the fate of the free world hanging in the balance, PRESSURE follows General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Captain James Stagg as they face an impossible choice—launch the largest and most dangerous seaborne invasion in history or risk losing the war altogether.
What do you all think of the trailer? We’ve been waiting for this film for over a year now, wondering whether it would be an Oscar player, and judging by the trailer, it doesn’t seem like it will be. Andrew Scott looks to be in fine form here, but Brendan Fraser feels miscast, and his more dramatic moments in the trailer are more distracting than compelling. The D-Day landing sequence will inevitably draw comparisons to “Saving Private Ryan,” but otherwise, this looks like your typical Focus Features WWII drama. I did enjoy Anthony Maras’ “Hotel Mumbai,” which was a very intense experience, so I’m hoping he can live up to the title and apply some tense pressure to this story, gripping us. What do you think, though?
