Amazon MGM Studios has released the trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s “After The Hunt,” starring Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stulbarg & ChloĆ« Sevigny. The film will be released in theaters in New York and LA on October 10th and will expand on October 17th.
Plot Synopsis: From visionary filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, AFTER THE HUNT is a gripping psychological drama about a college professor (Julia Roberts) who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student (Ayo Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Andrew Garfield), and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light.
What do you all think of the trailer? Those who reported at CinemaCon when this trailer premiered, noting that it appeared to be Luca Guadagnino’s most accessible and Academy-friendly film to date, weren’t kidding. There is definitely a more inviting look and feel to this, with an emphasis on powerhouse performances from recognizable stars and a sizzling screenplay that deals with intense and provocative subject matter from Nora Garrett. Some may decry the lack of artistry, trading in cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom for Malik Hassan Sayeed, compared to Guadagnino’s other films. Still, I think the story and performances combined with Guadagnino’s usual filmmaking talents will make this a prime awards season contender (it is currently a major player from the Next Best Picture team in ourĀ current Oscar predictions). A Venice world premiere announcement feels all but assured next week. But what do you all think, though? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below or on ourĀ XĀ account.
