The American Film Institute (AFI) has announced that Academy Award-winner Robert Zemeckis’s upcoming feature film “Here” will have its world premiere at the 2024 AFI Fest as the Centerpiece Screening on October 25th.
Zemeckis will also be honored by AFI Fest the day before, October 24th, with a “Directors Spotlight” featuring clips from his acclaimed and vast filmography and a conversation with him afterward about his career.
“Here” reunites Zemeckis with his “Forrest Gump” stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright and tells the story of multiple generations of couples and families as they inhabit the same home over a century. The film will have a fixed camera placement for its runtime and is said to be utilizing AI for the de-aging technology on Hanks and Wright. The film also stars Paul Bettany, Kelly Reilly, Michelle Dockery, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and David Fynn.
