The Golden Globes announced that a new category will be added for the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, which will award the best in film and television, and now podcasts, of 2025. For the new Best Podcast category, both audio and video podcasts will be eligible. The six nominees will be pulled from the “top 25 podcasts.” Further details are to be announced at a later date.
Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes, said “As the world of entertainment continues to evolve, we are excited to recognize new forms of storytelling. Podcasts have emerged as a profound medium for sharing narratives and building communities across global borders and generations. By celebrating achievements in both audio and visual podcasts, we aim to honor our heritage categories while making room for new voices and formats to be heard.”
This new category is the third to be added in recent years. The 2024 ceremony saw the addition of categories honoring Cinematic and Box Office Achievement (which has been awarded to “Barbie” and “Wicked“) and Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television (awarded to “Ricky Gervais: Armageddon” and “Ali Wong: Single Lady”).
The Golden Globes nominations will be announced on Monday, December 8, 2025 and the awards ceremony, hosted by last year’s emcee Nicki Glaser, be given out on Sunday, January 11, 2026. The ceremony will air on CBS and livestream on Paramount+ with Showtime.
