After various release dates and being delayed multiple times, The Weinstein Company’s “Tulip Fever” is set for a wide release this Labor Day. The film stars Alicia Vikander, Christoph Waltz, and Dane Dehaan.
Click beyond the jump to see the trailer and read more about “Tulip Fever.” Working from a script by Tom Stoppard (“Anna Karenina,” “Shakespeare in Love”), director Justin Chadwick (“Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom”) will bring Deborah Moggach’s novel to the big screen. Though a period piece with this much talent behind it is very exciting, “Tulip Fever” has seen a rocky post-production the past two years.
First footage/images from the film were shown over two years ago at Cannes 2015 and the film was originally scheduled to hit theaters in July of 2016. After an initial delay to February 2017, the film was pushed into the “Fall 2017” window. Weinstein Co. has confirmed that adaptation will see release on September 1.
All of the pieces are there for this to be a hit. A solid director with a great screenwriter? Two Oscar winners in the main roles? Judi Dench in a supporting role? On paper “Tulip Fever” sounds great, we will have to see the final product to know if the delayed release was justified.
