Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official trailer for Paul King’s “Wonka” starring Timothée Chalamet, Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, Olivia Colman, Jim Carter. The film will be released in theaters on December 15th, 2023.
Plot Synopsis: Focusing on a young Willy Wonka and how he came to meet the Oompa-Loompas on one of his earliest adventures.
What do you all think of the trailer? While I was initially excited by the casting of Timothée Chalet (because he’s a phenomenal actor), something about his quirky, showman performance is not registering with me. We all know Paul King can craft a delightful atmosphere filled with magic and charm (exemplified by the film’s production and costume design). His work on the “Paddington” films is another selling point, but this trailer didn’t do much to raise my already pre-built anticipation for this movie. I’m sure it’ll play well over the holiday season and show us some new range from Chalamet, as the material is causing him to dance and showcase a level of humor his other projects have not afforded him. What do you all think? Do we like the tone and vibe this trailer is giving off? What are your thoughts on Hugh Grant as an orange faced, green haired, dancing Oompa-Loompa?
