Trailer – “Meg 2: The Trench”

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official trailer for Ben Wheatley’s “Meg 2: The Trench” starring Jason Statham, Wu Jing, Sienna Guillory, Cliff Curtis, Skyler Samuels, Page Kennedy, Shuya Sophia, Cai Sergio & Peris-Mencheta. The film will be released in theaters on August 4th.

Plot Synopsis: Get ready for the ultimate adrenaline rush this summer in “Meg 2: The Trench,” a literally larger-than-life thrill ride that supersizes the 2018 blockbuster and takes the action to higher heights and even greater depths with multiple massive Megs and so much more! Dive into uncharted waters with Jason Statham and global action icon Wu Jing as they lead a daring research team on an exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean. Their voyage spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival. Pitted against colossal Megs and relentless environmental plunderers, our heroes must outrun, outsmart, and outswim their merciless predators in a pulse-pounding race against time. Immerse yourself in the most electrifying cinematic experience of the year with “Meg 2: The Trench” – where the depths of the ocean are matched only by the heights of sheer, unstoppable excitement!

What do you all think of the trailer? While I was not wholly impressed with “The Meg” when it was released in 2018, the fact that Ben Wheatley (“High-Rise” and “In The Earth“) is directing this sequel has me somewhat intrigued. Much like the first film, who doesn’t want to see Jason Statham fight a giant Meg for two hours? The visual effects certainly look impressive, and the trailer’s use of Heart’s “Barracuda” is well-placed to sell this as a fun, silly, and hopefully thrilling time this summer. What do you all think, though? Please let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or our Twitter account.
