Lionsgate has released the trailer for Trey Edward Shults’s “Hurry Up Tomorrow” starring Abel Tesfaye, Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan & Gabby Barrett. The film will be released in theaters on May 16th, 2025.
Plot Synopsis: A musician plagued by insomnia is pulled into an odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence.
What do you all think of the trailer? I’m a Trey Edward Shults defender (sorry, not sorry) as “Waves” was one of my ten favorite films of 2019, as was “It Comes At Night” for 2017, and “Krisha” was such an impressive feature directorial debut. I know after “The Idol,” many have soured on Abel Tesfaye’s (aka. “The Weeknd”) acting ability, but I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here in Shults’s hands. Based on the concept album by Tesfaye of the same name, the film looks audacious, visually, and sonically hypnotizing. Could it premiere at Cannes during the first three days before its theatrical release on May 16th? It’s possible, considering the festival begins on May 13th. Perhaps it’s not that kind of film, but after “The Idol” premiered at Cannes, perhaps Tesfaye wants to get a second shot at impressing his haters. The presence of Ortega and Keoghan is promising as they certainly add a degree of credibility to the project. What do you all think?
