Netflix has released the official teaser trailer for Sam Hargrave’s “Extraction 2” starring Chris Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahani, Tornike Gogrichiani, Adam Bessa, Daniel Bernhardt, Tinatin Dalakishvili & Olga Kurylenko. The film will be available to stream on Netflix on June 16th.
Plot Synopsis: Chris Hemsworth returns as Tyler Rake in “Extraction 2,” the sequel to Netflix’s blockbuster action film “Extraction.” After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.
What do you all think of the teaser trailer?
I didn’t feel the first “Extraction” film was anything extraordinary (although many people lost their minds over an impressive oner). However, with the rise in popularity of practical action films outside of the superhero genre (which ironically made Hemsworth a star), such as “John Wick” and “Mission: Impossible,” I suppose a sequel was inevitable. I was also not a fan of the Russo Brothers’ “The Gray Man,” but here’s hoping they’re trusting Hargrave to deliver something more impactful than the first film. This teaser is an exhilarating and effective way to immerse us in the carnage Tyler Rake will surely unleash after many thought he was dead after the first film. With the many background extras, chaotic but clear camerawork, and use of fire, this particular set piece makes it look like a standout sequence in a film that hopefully will have many. I’m skeptical but curious as there’s definitely room to improve upon what the first film offered. What do you all think, though?
