A24 has released the trailer for the directorial debut film from Alex Scharfman, “Death Of A Unicorn” starring Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, and Richard E. Grant. The film will be released in theaters this Spring.
Plot Synopsis: A father (Paul Rudd) and daughter (Jenna Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (Richard E. Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.
What do you all think of the trailer? I love the kind of ridiculous A24 with an original concept that allows actors to have a blast on screen, and that’s exactly what “Death Of A Unicorn” looks like as it affords actors I enjoy watching when they have to play dark comedy or just some level of absurdity in an exaggerated manner that is meant to simply entertain. It appears the movie will also be bloody, with the unicorns attacking everyone and wreaking mayhem on these characters. Will Poulter and Téa Leoni get the trailer’s funniest bits, but honestly, this had me the very moment I saw Richard E. Grant come on screen, whose charisma is enough to amuse me no matter what else is happening. Overall, this should be some light pleasure in the spring from A24, but what do you all think?
