Our 2016 retrospective continues as we attempt to cover a few missing podcast reviews which we did not complete the year the site launched. This will culminate in NBP Film Community Awards and awards voted on by the staff towards the end of October. Next up is our review of “The Handmaiden” written and directed by Park Chan-wook (“Oldboy”). One of the most acclaimed films of 2016 and unjustly overlooked to be South Korea’s Oscar submission for the Best International Feature Film category that year, the film has endured to become a modern classic in the eyes of many cinephiles. Do we agree? Joining me to discuss I have Nicole Ackman, Josh Parham, Dan Bayer & Patreon guest Jay Ledbetter. Take a listen below and let us know what you think. Also check out our previous 2016 reviews of “20th Century Women,” “Paterson,” “Captain Fantastic” & “Hail, Caesar!” Thanks!
