The Next Best Picture Podcast – “Philomena”

By Matt Neglia

Last week we kicked off our 2013 retrospective, and now, we are continuing it with another Best Picture nominee from that year. “Philomena” was a massive indie box-office success, nabbing four Academy Award nominations towards the end of the Weinstein Company’s reign over awards season. How does the film hold up today? What did we think of the writing? The performances from Steve Coogan and Judi Dench? Joining me for this podcast retrospective review, I have Nicole AckmanMichael Schwartz, and Patreon guest Eve O’Dea. Tune in below to find out our thoughts and enjoy! You can also check out our previous 2013 retrospective review of “Captain Phillips” if you have not done so already.
