“Empire Of Light” may be the most personal story Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes has ever made and receiving award nominations for its leading star Olivia Colman and its cinematography by Roger Deakins. Still, one of the film’s best assets is its breakout star, BAFTA Rising Star Award winner Micheal Ward (“Blue Story“). The young 25-year-old actor has a bright future ahead of him, and in Mendes’ film, he plays opposite Olivia Colman as a new hire employee at the cinema she manages in the 1980s off the south coast of England.
