Exclusive – Charles Melton’s Performance In “May December”

When “May December” premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, many awards pundits expected Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman to deliver (as they always do) with their performances in a new Todd Haynes film. Many were completely surprised by the heart-wrenching, genuine, and nuanced work from “Riverdale” star Charles Melton. The young 32-year-old has received rave reviews for his performance as Joe Yoo, a thirty-something-year-old man who was taken advantage of by a woman, Gracie, nearly twice his age when he was one of her students. Now, he has a family with her and is having to reckon with his relationship and marriage to Gracie when Portman’s Elizabeth Berry, an actress looking to play Moore’s Gracie for an upcoming film, enters their lives. Nominated for a Gotham Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance, Melton’s work has been a stand-out this awards season, and now, Netflix has released an exclusive video highlighting his performance from Director Todd Haynes, Actress Julianne Moore, Screenwriter Samy Burch, Producers Christine Vachon, Pamela Koffler & Jessica Elbaum.
