Cannes 2024 Adds More Animated Titles & A Conversation With Valeria Golino

After announcing the 2024 Cannes Film Festival lineup, along with the Directors’ Fortnight and Critics’ Week titles, some late additions to the official lineup, and the Cannes Classics and Events, today, more additions were made for this year’s festival, including the Cinéma de la Plage section, a few more animated titles and a conversation with actress and director Valeria Golino. With the festival set to take place in less than three weeks, everything is starting to come together for what will be another memorable year on the Croisette.

RENDEZ-VOUD WITH…VALERINA GOLINO:

Valeria Golino is a celebrated actress and now director. Twice invited to the Official Selection with her films “Miele” (2013) and “Euforia” (2018), she will return this year for a special rendezvous. She has just adapted Goliarda Sapienza’s great novel “L’arte della gioia” (“The Art of Joy”) for the screen, starring Jasmine Trinca, Tecla Insolia, and Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi. Initially shot as a TV series, “The Art of Joy” will be released in movie theaters in Italy. On the occasion of this event, the series’ first episode will be previewed at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, followed by a dialogue between Valeria Golino and the audience. Guillemette Odicino will be the moderator for this event.

CINÉMA DE LA PLAGE:

Before the full program is unveiled soon, four contemporary films will be shown as part of Cinéma de la Plage:

TRANSMITZVAH by Daniel Burman
SILEX AND THE CITY by Jul and Guigue
SLOCUM ET MOI by Jean-François Laguionie
MY WAY by Lisa Azuelos and Thierry Teston

SCREENING FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES:

Two animated films will be on the program for young (and not-so-young) audiences at Cannes 2024:

SAUVAGES by Claude Barras
ANGELO, DANS LA FORÊT MYSTÉRIEUSE by Vincent Paronnaud and Alexis Ducord

With the tribute to Studio Ghibli, the 2024 Official Selection will feature six animated films: “The Most Precious of Cargoes” in Competition in addition to “Flow” (Un Certain Regard), “Silex and the City,” “Slocum et moi,” “Sauvages,” and “Angelo, dans la forêt mystérieuse.

The full lineup for the 2024 Cannes Film Festival can be seen here. The festival runs from May 14th until May 25th.
