The 2024 Cannes Film Festival Directors’ Fortnight & Critics’ Week Lineups

After the official announcement of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival lineup last week, yesterday, the lineup for the parallel Cannes Directors’ Fortnight section (or Quinzaine des cinéastes) and Cannes Critics’ week were announced.

For the 56th edition of Directors’ Fortnight, this is the second lineup under the leadership of Julien Rejl as artistic director, with four American films in the lineup, including India Donaldson’s “Good One,” which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Ryan J. Sloan’s “Gazer,” Carson Lund’s “Eephus,” and Tyler Taormina’s “Christmas Eve In Miller’s Point.” Directors’ Fortnight will launch its first People’s Choice Award this year. The Fondation Chantal Akerman is presenting the prize, which includes a €7,500 grant for the winning filmmaker of the selected feature film. It’s a new addition to other idependent prizes awarded within the section, such as the Europa Cinemas Label Award, SACD Prize, Art Cinema Award and Illy Prize. The grant will be awarded during the closing ceremony. Chantal Akerman’s latest film, “American Stories: Food, Family, and Philosophy,” will premiere as a Special Screening during the festival. The Critics’ Week is a parallel selection dedicated to first and second films from filmmakers (CdO) indicates film eligible for the Caméra d’Or as a feature directorial debut. The following films were selected to be screened in competition:
