Warner Bros. has released the trailer for Zach Cregger’s “Weapons,” starring Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong & Amy Madigan. The film will be released in theaters on August 8th.
Plot Synopsis: When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.
What do you all think of the trailer? That’s gotta be one of the most effective horror movie trailers I’ve seen in recent memory. Not only does the hook of the story prompt intrigue and tension, especially because it deals with the safety of children and the anxiety of the fallout coming from the parents, but also because Cregger’s name recognition as the mind behind “Barbarian” is another reason to get excited to see how his follow up holds to the promise that horror film showcased for him. There’s some really disturbing imagery in this trailer, and I’ll be curious to see how the more supernatural elements play, considering the mystery surrounding where exactly the children disappeared and went off to. Also, Cregger has brought on some really talented actors for this one. This could be a late summer hit if word of mouth is strong.
