Trailer – “Unfrosted”

Netflix has released the trailer for Jerry Seinfeld’s feature directorial debut “Unfrosted” starring Jerry Seinfeld, Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Hugh Grant, Amy Schumer, Max Greenfield, Christian Slater, Bill Burr, Daniel Levy, James Marsden, Jack McBrayer, Thomas Lennon, Bobby Moynihan, Adrian Martinez, Sarah Cooper & Fred Armisen. The film will be available to stream on Netflix on May 3rd.

Plot Synopsis: Battle Creek, Michigan, 1963. Kellogg’s and Post, sworn cereal rivals, race to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast forever. A wildly imaginative tale of ambition, betrayal, and menacing milkmen – sweetened with artificial ingredients.

What do you all think of the trailer? Well, this is certainly a change of pace from yesterday’s trailer, which excited us all (“Kinds Of Kindness“). Look, I loved “Seinfeld.” Didn’t we all? It’s one of the all-time great comedies, maybe the best ever made for television, and Jerry Seinfeld will forever be able to ride off the coattails of that show’s success and carry a ton of goodwill into any project he chooses to make (depending on who you ask). However, this trailer didn’t do much to get me excited as it looks like yet another in a long line of “behind the scenes of the corporation who made this thing you’re familiar with” movies, only significantly worse. More “The Beanie Bubble” than “Air” in this case, if we’re being honest, but there are some out there who dislike both, so maybe Hollywood needs to take the hint and stop with these nostalgic product placement movies unless they have something actually interesting to say. While this cast is star-studded with many recognizable names, I didn’t laugh once during the trailer, which is never a good sign. Obviously, we’ll approach this with an open mind and see if this comedically heightened telling of the development of the popular breakfast pastry pops.
