Netflix has released the official trailer for Juel Taylor’s “They Cloned Tyrone” starring John Boyega, Teyonah Parris & Jamie Foxx. The film will have its world premiere at the American Black Film Festival on June 14th, and will be available to stream on Netflix on July 21st.
Plot Synopsis: A series of eerie events thrusts an unlikely trio onto the trail of a nefarious government conspiracy in this pulpy mystery caper.
What do you all think of the trailer? I really love the throwback aesthetic the movie is going with here and how it strikes a balance between feeling modern and a homage to Black exploitation films of the 70s. The vibe is definitely more fun than I was anticipating too and looks to be mixing different tones and genres to provide something entertaining and substantive during the summer movie season. Following his involvement in the “Star Wars” films, John Boyega has been on a mission to prove to the world that he doesn’t need Hollywood, and he’s one of the best actors around with a unique voice to share (see his incredible work in “Breaking” and “Red, White, And Blue“), and this looks no different. Plus, following his recent health scare, it’s a pleasure to see Jamie Foxx back on the screen. What do you all think, though?
