Warner Bros. has released the trailer for Ishana Night Shyamalan’s feature directorial debut, “The Watchers,” starring Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan & Olwen Fouéré. The film will be released in theaters on June 7th.
Plot Synopsis: Based on the novel by A.M. Shine, “The Watchers” follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night. You can’t see them, but they see everything.
What do you all think of the trailer? M. Night Shyamalan has built an entire career for himself by crafting unique thrillers with twist endings. Now, his daughter Ishana Night Shyamalan, after serving as a second unit director on her father’s films “Old” and “Knock At The Cabin” and writing ten episodes and directing six for the Apple TV+ show “Servant” is getting the massive opportunity to make her feature directorial debut with Warner Bros. Pictures. The premise has the feeling of a Shyamalan film, and it remains to be seen whether she will follow directly in her father’s footsteps regarding his love for subverting audience expectations or if her horror outing will be more straightforward. As a side note, seeing Dakota Fanning in a new role is always great. With M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film “Trap” getting a theatrical release from Warner Bros. (also starring his other daughter, Saleka Shyamalan) a few weeks after the release of “The Watchers,” I’m sure it must be a proud and happy moment in the Shyamalan household.
