Warner Bros. has released the trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film, “Trap,” starring Josh Hartnett, Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills, Marnie McPhail & Vanessa Smythe. The film will be released in theaters on August 9th.
Plot Synopsis: A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.
What do you all think of the trailer? What do you all think? As I’ve said time and time again, I’m extremely hit or miss when it comes to M. Night Shyamalan. I believe his best work occurred in the earlier part of his career, but he’s definitely turned a corner with some recent films as of late, which have reminded me of the promise he once held. While he continues to have devoted fans who will celebrate his genius in even the most divisive of directorial efforts, I at least remain committed to seeing all of his films despite not knowing if what I will get will be pleasing. In short, you never know what you’ll get with an M Night Shyamalan film, but at the very least, you can expect it to be more interesting than what other filmmakers are attempting today in the horror/thriller genre. “Trap” certainly has a premise that, like most Shyamalan films, intrigues me, and it’s wonderful to see Josh Hartnett in a leading role again following his praised supporting work in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” While some are claiming the trailer is already giving away the famous “M. Night Shyamalan twist,” I beg to differ. I think this is merely the setup, and there will be more twists and turns in this confined serial killer thriller. What do you all think, though?
