20th Century Studios has released the official trailer for Gareth Edwards’ “The Creator” starring John David Washington, Ken Watanabe, Allison Janney, Ralph Ineson, and Gemma Chan. The film will be released in theaters on September 29th.
Plot Synopsis: Amid a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua, a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife, is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war—and mankind itself.
What do you all think of the trailer? While the trailer certainly shows a lot of elements borrowed from other films (think “Children of Men“, “Looper”, “I, Robot”, etc.), the scale is impressively massive, showing that Edwards learned quite a bit from directing “Rogue One“. The glimpses we get of the supporting cast members (Janney, Watanabe, Chan, and especially Ineson, whose deep, gravelly voice is being put to chilling use) are tantalizing, and the action looks intense. Hopefully Washington has more of a character to play here than he did the last time he led an action spectacle, and can thus bring more of the sharpness that made his performance in “BlacKKKlansman” so impressive.
