Trailer – “The Boy And The Heron”

GKIDS Films has released the official trailer for Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Boy And The Heron” starring the voice talents of Soma Santoki, Masaki Suda, Aimyon, Yoshino Kimura, Shōhei Hino, Ko Shibasaki & Takuya Kimura. The film will have its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, then play at the New York Film Festival and will be released in theaters nationwide and in IMAX on December 8th.

Plot Synopsis: Mahito, a young 12-year-old boy, struggles to settle in a new town after his mother’s death. However, when a talking heron informs Mahito that his mother is still alive, he enters an abandoned tower in search of her, which takes him to another world.

What do you all think of the trailer? Easily one of the year’s most anticipated films, Hayao Miyazaki is a living legend who has given us countless classics over the years. Now, with “The Boy And The Heron,” he has potentially given us his final film. The movie has been released in Japan for a few weeks, but no one in the U.S. has seen the film yet. That will all end tomorrow when the film has its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Considering how long the film went without any images, poster, or trailer, it’s kind of a relief and a letdown to finally be getting some marketing materials for the film, as many wanted to wait to see it in theaters before ever getting any kind of a glimpse at what Miyazaki has created this time for us. Obviously, the animation looks stunning, which was expected, but what do you all think? Please let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or our Twitter account.
