Netflix has released the trailer for Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” starring Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Anthony Hopkins, Staz Nair, Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Sigurðsson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, Rhian Rees, Elise Duffy, Sky Yang, Charlotte Maggi & Ray Fisher. The film will premiere on Netflix on April 19th.
Plot Synopsis: “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver” continues the epic saga of Kora and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of Veldt to defend a once peaceful village, a newfound homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld. On the eve of their battle, the warriors must face the truths of their own pasts, each revealing why they fight. As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge, and legends are made.
What do you all think of the trailer? As usual with a Zack Snyder film, the visuals certainly look pretty, but if this is anything like “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child Of Fire,” we will be in for another excruciating, bland sci-fi action epic. The last film’s lifeless storytelling borrowed from countless other classic films, lacking any sense of originality outside of its world-building. Not a single character or performance could stand out as the first half of the story spent too much time trying to introduce everyone, preventing any character arcs from fully forming. The only saving grace for Part Two is if it can deliver on those arcs, bringing a proper end to the story and making Part One better in retrospect once we see how the whole story plays out. I’m not entirely sure Snyder will be able to pull it off, but I’m always willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. What do you all think, though?
