A24 has released the trailer for Ti West’s third and final installment in his “X” trilogy, “MaXXXine,” starring Mia Goth, Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito & Kevin Bacon. The film will be released in theaters on July 5th.
Plot Synopsis: In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.
What do you all think of the trailer? This exceeded all of my expectations. We’re massive fans here at NBP of both “X” and “Pearl,” and speaking for myself, I love how stylistically different all three have been from one another while sticking to the horror genre but with a slight twist each time. Paying homage to noir films and setting this within the 1980s gives Ti West a fun canvas to play with as he mixes paranoia with serial killers and Maxine Minx’s desire to be a star in Hollywood. Everything, from the way this was edited to the music selection and the glimpses we got of Mia Goth’s performance (who has been excellent across the previous two films so far), was perfectly done to get me and I’m sure others excited. After “X” premiered at SXSW and “Pearl” made its world premiere in Venice, does this mean “MaXXXine” will be announced later this week for Cannes?
