Warner Bros. Pictures has released the teaser trailer for Joseph Kosinski’s “F1” starring Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Javier Bardem & Sarah Niles. The film will be released in theaters on June 25th, 2025.
Plot Synopsis: Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a Formula One driver who raced in the 1990s, has a horrible crash, forcing him to retire from Formula One and start racing in other disciplines. A Formula One team owner and friend (Javier Bardem) contacts Hayes and asks him to come out of retirement to mentor rookie prodigy Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) on the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP).
What do you all think of the teaser trailer? We’ve been hearing about this production for quite some time, given how much anticipation there is surrounding Kosinski’s work following the success of the Oscar-winning “Top Gun: Maverick.” Looking to capitalize on the immersive quality that made “Top Gun: Maverick” a standout at the cinemas, the teaser for “F1” highlights shots from inside the cars in a way reminiscent of how Kosinski and cinematographer Claudio Miranda shot the actors in the planes. The teaser prominently features Brad Pitt as its movie star headliner the same way “Top Gun: Maverick” coasted on the back of Tom Cruise’s star power. Will the same formula work for audiences? Early buzz seems positive despite Pitt’s abusive behavior towards his former wife, Angelina Jolie, and the production budget ballooning up to $300 million. This will need to be a massive success in cinemas, specifically in IMAX theaters next summer, before releasing on Apple TV+ at a later date. As of now, it looks to be exactly what I expected, though, I’m always happy to see Academy Award-nominee Kerry Condon receiving more work. I could’ve done without the incessant “We Will Rock You” track from Queen, but otherwise, engines are a go for summer 2025. What do you all think, though?
