MGM Studios has released the trailer for “Creed III” starring Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson, Jonathan Majors, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu & Phylicia Rashad. Creed III is the third installment in the successful franchise, is Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut, and will be released in theaters on March 3rd, 2023.
Plot Synopsis:After dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has been thriving in both his career and family life. When a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian (Jonathan Majors), resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. The face off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian – a fighter who has nothing to lose.
What do you all think of the trailer? I was a pretty big fan of Ryan Coogler’s “Creed” in 2015. While I wasn’t as high on “Creed II” as the first film, it’s still been a remarkable experience to watch Michael B. Jordan play the role of Adonis Creed and see the character’s journey across these films so far. This film marks Jordan’s directorial debut and is the first time Sylvester Stallone will not appear as Rocky. Even without Rocky’s presence (maybe there will be a surprise cameo?), these characters have been built up so well over the first two films that they can easily carry a film on their own at this point, and centering this story on a past friendship turned rivalry is a smart one especially when you have an actor like Jonathan Majors filling the shoes of the antagonist. I’m looking forward to seeing Jordan and Majors bounce off one another in and outside the ring while also seeing what Jordan brings to the film as a director with a character he knows inside and out at this point.
