Trailer – “BlackBerry”

IFC Films has released the official trailer for Matt Johnson’s “BlackBerry” starring Jay Baruchel, Glenn Howerton, Michael Ironside, Saul Rubinek, Cary Elwes, Rich Sommer, SungWon Cho & Michelle Giroux. The film premiered at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival, and will be released in theaters on May 12th.

Plot Synopsis: “BlackBerry” tells the story of Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, the two men that charted the course of the spectacular rise and catastrophic demise of the world’s first smartphone.

What do you all think of the trailer?

This seems to have the same vibes as something like “The Social Network” and “The Big Short.” Like “Tetris” (also screened at SXSW this year), the curtain is being pulled back to reveal an outrageous story of the behind-the-scenes drama behind the development of a piece of technology that became an everyday part of so many people’s lives. It looks entertaining, intelligent, and thrilling with slick writing. It may slide under the radar for some, but solid critical reviews should drive some interest when it releases in May.
