Searchlight Pictures has released the official trailer for Tony Gilroy’s “Behemoth!” starring Pedro Pascal, Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Alexa Swinton, Kaya Ralls, Erik Griffin, JoBeth Williams, Margarita Levieva, Hank Azaria, and Will Arnett. The film will be released in theaters on December 4th.
Plot Synopsis: A gifted cellist, Alex Serian (Pedro Pascal), returns home to Los Angeles after 20 years on the road. Music, which has been the constant, all-consuming river of his life, begins to carry Alex on an adventure that will change him forever.

This is a teaser, so there isn’t much to share yet, but here is what I know. I do know that Searchlight is very high on this film, and the “Behemoth! Collective,” which consists of composers James Newton Howard, Alan Silvestri, Brandon Roberts, Michael Abels, Emily Bear, Lukas Frank, Michael Giacchino, Henry Jackman, and Nami Melumad is going to definitely contribute towards this film’s identity in a very major and unique way, bringing together so many creative minds in the world of music, in a film about music that also functions as character study. Many will probably compare it to Todd Field’s “Tár” in that regard. But given Tony Gilroy’s artistic proficiency, as evidenced by his work on “Michael Clayton” and the Disney+ series “Andor,” I suspect this will be something special later this year. Pedro Pascal has reached the right point in his career to earn his first Oscar nomination, and I expect the writing to be exceptional. Considering that Searchlight is likely bringing “Wild Horse Nine,” their other Oscar contender from Martin McDonough to Venice first and then skipping Telluride and bringing it to Toronto the same way as they did with “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and “The Banshees Of Inisherin,” I suspect that they will premiere “Behemoth!” at Telluride, which would be a really great place to kick start whatever Oscar campaign they have set for it.
