Warner Bros. has released the trailer for Tim Burton’s sequel to “Beetlejuice,” “Bettlejuice Beetlejuice” starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Catherine O’Hara & Willem Dafoe. The film will be released in theaters on September 8th.
Plot Synopsis: Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.
What do you all think of the trailer? While this is a teaser and not a full trailer, this delivered everything I hoped and expected it would, from the choir use of Harry Belafonte’s “Banana Boat (Day-O)” to getting a glimpse at Michael Keaton (who I cannot believe is in his 70’s now) reprising this iconic character 36 years later, to shots of the new cast and a returning Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder (yes!!). The date mentioned for 2024 A.D. is also a nice touch. Overall, if Warner Bros. didn’t release anything else for this, I’d be satisfied and ready to return back to this crazy world. Tim Burton can be incredibly hit or miss (more miss than hit lately), but I remain optimistic he’ll still have the juice for this one. What do you all think, though?
