Thierry Frémaux announced the official lineup for the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival this morning. The festival had a lot of expectations this year after the festival served as the launchpad for the world premieres of eventual Oscar Best Picture nominees from the last two years, “Elvis,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Triangle Of Sadness” (Palme d’Or winner), “Anatomy Of A Fall” (Palme d’Or winner), “Killers Of The Flower Moon,” “The Zone Of Interest,” “Anora” (Palme d’Or and Best Picture winner), “Emilia Pérez,” and “The Substance.” As is the case every year, the lineup is highly impressive, filled with world-renowned favorite filmmakers and newcomers from all over the world. We currently know this year’s jury president will be Academy Award-winner Juliette Binoche, but we do not know the other jury members at this time. After covering the festival for the last two years in person, Dan Bayer will join me on the Croisette this year for the first time. Expect more additions in the coming days, as Frémaux mentioned a few times during the announcement that this year’s lineup is not final with this announcement. This year’s Cannes Film Festival runs from May 13th to the 24th.
