The craft winners for the 36th European Film Awards (EFA) were announced today, representing the best in European cinema for 2023. The winners for the other categories will be presented on December 9th, 2023, in a ceremony that will also honor the films mentioned here.
Denmark’s Oscar submission for Best International Feature Film “The Promised Land” took two prizes, including Best Cinematography for Rasmus Videbaek and Best Costume Design for Kicki Ilander. Spain’s Oscar submission for Best International Feature Film, “Society of the Snow,” which is set to premiere on Netflix on January 4th, 2024, also took two prizes winning Best Visual Effects for Félix Bergés and Laura Pedrobest and Best Hair and Make-up for Ana López-Puigcerver, Belén López-Puigcerver, David Martà and Montse Ribé.
Two Cannes prize-winning films added to their tally this awards season with Jonathan Glazer’s Cannes-winning film and England’s submission for Best International Feature Film “The Zone of Interest” took the prize for Best Sound, which was awarded to Johnnie Burn and Tarn Willers. Meanwhile, the Palme d’Or winning “Anatomy of a Fall” won Best Editing, which went to Laurent Sénéchal.
Alice Rohrwacher’s “La Chimera” won Best Production Design for Emita Frigato, and the final award for Best Score went to Markus Binder for Jessica Hausner’s “Club Zero” which premiered earlier this year at Cannes but still does not have a 2024 release date as of yet.
