My Final 2024 Critics Choice Award Nomination Predictions

The 30th annual Critics’ Choice Awards (CCA) nominations will be announced tomorrow morning, December 12th. I am a voting member, but I also love to think about what the group might go for each year as they are still one of the few televised awards that help a contender with their Oscar campaign each year. When predicting the CCA, the general rule of thumb is to go with the widely predicted contenders. As the old saying goes, “Critics Choice just wants to predict the Oscars,” which is a redundant claim considering many are not aware of how the balloting system for CCA works (5 slots for Best Picture, 3 slots for everything else, thus making it a very top-heavy ballot for many voters). With this in mind and having a first-hand account of which films received the most targeted campaigns toward CCA voters, here are my predictions for tomorrow’s nominations:
