Fresh off an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, according to Deadline, Kerry Condon (“The Banshees Of Inisherin“) has joined the Untitled Brad Pitt formula one feature for Apple. The film, also starring Damson Idris (“Outside The Wire”), will be helmed by “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski. Jerry Bruckheimer is also set to re-team with Kosinski as a producer following the success of their last collaboration.
Condon will play the Technical Director for Pitt’s team, overseeing the design and development of a sophisticated race car. The story follows Pitt as a former racer who decides to forgo retirement to mentor a younger racer and cement their glory on the track.
After seeing Condon’s stunning breakthrough performance in “The Banshees of Inisherin,” we are excited about her career’s next phase. Her joining a project on this scale is certainly an exciting decision, let alone it being Kosinski’s follow-up to “Top Gun: Maverick,” which brought in over a billion dollars worldwide. Everything we’ve heard about this film from a technical standpoint and how Claudio Miranda will film the racing sequences practically with Pitt in the car sounds exhilarating. Here’s hoping everything that made “Top Gun: Maverick” such a spectacle to witness in theaters will be transferred to the ground-and-pound world of Formula One racing.
